To arrive in Ullapool, on the remote north-west coast of Scotland, is a breath-taking
experience:
with the mountains, sea and loch, and the distant Summer Isles to wonder at.
The whitewashed cottages of the village have a charm of their own,
with the Ferry Boat Inn standing in their midst.
The village was founded in 1788 as a fishing port, the Inn being built a few
years later.
The character of both has been most carefully preserved.
This is possibly the last unspoiled environment left in Europe. A paradise
of clean land, sea and air for walkers and climbers, fishermen, bird-watchers.
Ullapool is surrounded by spectacularly beautiful scenery, but there is much
more to do here than take photographs
